One-Week Creative Arts Therapy Camp

JUNE + AUGUST 2026

Summertime can be both exciting and destabilizing for kids and families. Changes in routine, less time with friends, later bedtimes, and increased screen time can make transitions into—and out of—summer harder than expected.

These 5-day summer therapy camps offer sensitive kids a creative reset—helping them unwind at the start of summer and feel more confident heading into the school year. Through expressive arts, play, and group activities, kids build emotional awareness, coping skills, and peer connection.

Designed as a short, immersive alternative to weekly therapy, camps offer meaningful support when the school year feels too full, with options to continue in our weekly elementary or middle school therapy groups.

Summer camp groups are intentionally kept small to ensure each child receives individualized support and meaningful connection. Space is limited.

Creative Arts. Play. Imagination. Emotions.

Services

Some activities campers might explore...

  • Drawing and collaging inner worlds to explore feelings, stress, and how emotions live in the body

  • Creating comics or choose-your-own-adventure stories where perfectionism and the inner critic become characters

  • Building tiny sand-tray worlds to explore friendships, boundaries, and brave conversations

  • Designing games or family connection cards with prompts like “questions I wish you’d ask”

  • Making a short playdough stop-motion story to share insight, hope, or a hidden strength

Parents get something, too

Camp isn't just for kids. Enrollment includes complimentary:

30-minute Phone/Video Consultation

Before the week begins, caregivers are invited to a complimentary 30-minute phone consultation to share hopes for their child and help us prepare thoughtfully for camp.

Caregiver Open Studio Night (optional)

Then on Thursday evening (6:30–8:00 PM), parents are invited to their own optional studio experience. This therapist-led gathering offers space to connect with like-minded caregivers, try a playful creative activity your child explored during the week, and walk away with practical tools to keep the momentum going at home.

Because growth works best when families feel supported, too.

Services

Most summer programs are built for childcare; ours is built for healing and nervous system health. Therapy camp sessions are intentionally designed to be just under 2 hours to ensure we hit the "therapeutic sweet spot" without reaching the point of sensory, social, or emotional burnout.

Intentionally designed for kids' growth

Avoiding Sensory Overwhelm: For many sensitive, creative, or neurodiverse kids, an 8-hour "loud" camp can be more exhausting than helpful. Our length allows for deep creative work while keeping your child regulated and "on" for the rest of their day.

A Predictable Therapeutic Rhythm: Just like an individual therapy session, our camp follows a specific arc of grounding, creative emotional processing, and closure.

Small-Group Depth: With a max of 4–6 campers, we move through more meaningful connection in 2 hours than a typical camp does in an entire day.

Quality over quantity

Services

Meaghan Seelaus, MA, MEd, LPCC

I’m a mindfulness-based psychotherapist with the credentials to back it up (Naropa and Lesley University), but I’m also a parent, an artist, and a former teacher. I don’t believe in "fixing" kids or parents. I believe in helping you find the parts of yourself—and your family—that have been quieted by burnout, big emotions, or the weight of being "the strong one".

I specialize in the complex stuff: neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism, 2E), ambiguous grief, and family trauma. My approach is rooted in the belief that we are all entitled to our own cycles of shadow and light, and that creative play is a serious tool for survival.

I’m here for the parents, the rebels, and the kids who know there’s more to life than just "getting by."

Summer Therapy Camp FAQs

Why isn’t this a half- or full-day camp?
Camp is a therapeutic group run by a licensed therapist. Just under 2 hours allows for depth, creativity, and skill-building without overwhelm.

How do you form the groups?
Groups are intentionally small and thoughtfully curated by age and readiness. Emotional safety, kindness, and nervous system fit matter here.

My child is anxious. Is this still a good fit?
That's totally normal! Many campers are. We move gently, create predictable rhythm, and invite participation — never force it. During our consultation call before camp, we'll discuss ways to prepare your child for a successful week.

My child isn’t an artist. Will they feel out of place?
Not at all. Creativity is a doorway to expression — not a performance. Process over product, always.

My child already has a therapist. Is this too much therapy?
No. It's not uncommon for clients to attend individual therapy and group concurrently. Camp builds peer connection, emotional courage, and embodied coping skills in ways individual sessions alone often can’t. I’m happy to collaborate with your child’s therapist if helpful.

My child has big feelings. Will they do okay?
Yes. Big feelings are welcome here. As a licensed therapist, I’m trained to support emotional intensity with steadiness and skill. Group size is small, structure is predictable, and regulation tools are woven throughout.

What happens after I enroll?

You’ll complete intake forms, then we schedule a brief call to connect before camp begins. If supportive, an individual meeting can be arranged to help your child feel ready and confident stepping into group.

What should my child bring to camp?
A water bottle, a small snack, and clothes they can comfortably move and create in. Transition objects or a favorite stuffy are always welcome. All other materials are provided.

What happens after camp ends?
Camp can be a powerful stepping stone into summer or the start of a new school year. Children leave with concrete coping tools and a sense of shared experience. If continued support would be beneficial, I provide personalized recommendations for next steps.

How can my child continue to receive group support?

Similar groups meet weekly on Sundays throughout the entire year, so if kids enjoy camp, or want continued support during the school year, they can easily transition into our Playful Coping + Creative Expression Group (ages 5-9) or our Worry to Wisdom Group (ages 10-14). If weekly group is a better fit than camp this summer, reach out!

I enjoyed the parent night! Will you hold more meetings?

I always encourage parents to exchange contact information at our Parent Night if they'd like to stay connected. Many parents opt to join one of our ongoing adult groups that meet regularly throughout the year.

Do you offer discounts?
Yes. If cost feels like a barrier, please reach out. I honor a sliding scale for all services, camp included— just ask. Additionally, if you'd like to pay with an HSA/FSA card or need a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement, reach out prior to booking at meaghan@wildcrescenttherapystudio.com so we can process your payment in a way that will benefit you the most.
